FAQs

  • The program brings together a small group of journalists who cover or are interested in covering the Middle East for a series of virtual and in-person seminars. These seminars, led by experienced foreign correspondents, experts and academics, provide current and historical information about the Middle East region to help fellows understand new developments and inform their audiences better. They also address the challenges of covering the Middle East. In-person meetings and events in Washington, D.C. give fellows opportunities to meet experts and colleagues and build a supportive network for their ongoing professional life.

  • All journalists with U.S. citizenship who currently cover or edit reporting from the Middle East region may apply. We are also looking for journalists, stringers, producers and editors interested in reporting from the Middle East.

  • We look for a cohort of fellows that is as diverse as possible. That said, the selection committee looks at your personal and professional accomplishments and how the group might benefit from you and your experiences. While we like to have a chance to interact with as many news rooms as possible we are well aware that journalists often change their professional homes during their career, especially in the early years. Invitations to the program are based on your personal accomplishments and professional plans only.
